Freedom - begins at ground level

Legendary Sikh activist Bhai Pal Singh of France has long campaigned for the reversal in French law that has banned the Sikh Turban in public life and docucments, has organised hundreds of Sikh youth in a movement to take part in protests and demonstrations to raise awareness of the Sikh Turban (Dastar) at the village of Dhandowal in Panjab's Jalandhar district involving youth of over 15 villages.

Bhai Pal Singh has only regained his freedom last year, having been falsely implicated in fake cases by the Notorious Panjab Police and served 7 years in prison for crimes he did not commit.

71 years old Bhai Dayal Singh currently serving a life sentence in a false case in Uttarpardes, India.

Sikh Relief had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court for his release. His Court case and family welfare are both supported by Sikh Relief.

THE SIKH GENOCIDE - Part 4

In Trilokpuri, despite the change in duty of police officers arising from the intervention of three journalists, the mass killing, pillage and raping carried on until the afternoon of 3rd November. It was only then, survivors of the attacks were eventually evacuated to the relief camps.

THE SIKHI GENOCIDE - Part 3

In Trilokpuri, the killings continued through the night and into the second day. The mobsters were in no hurry; they searched for any Sikhs left hiding and targeted those Sikh houses they suspected may have been initially missed. The surviving women had no means of escape as the attackers had picketed guards at each corner. So, the Sikh women remained in the shells of their burnt out houses, dazed by the violent frenzy they had just witnessed in the past 24 hours. In many cases, these women had married into these same houses, raised their children within these walls and now all around them lay the burnt out bodies of their husbands, sons and loved ones.

SIKH GENOCIDE  (Part 2 of 5)

On the morning of November 1st 1984, mobs of armed men equipped with uniformly cut iron rods, kerosene and tyres, congregated at designated points across districts of Delhi. Some of the eye witness testimonies describe the horror that unfolded:

Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera gets released on parole for 21 days.

Sikh Relief lawyers, Advocate Balbir Singh Sanni and Jagdeep Singh Cheema successfully achieved the acquittal of Bhai Narain Singh Chaura and Bhai Dharam Singh, under section 25 of the arms act and 19 of the UAP act dated 07/03/2013.

THE SIKH GENOCIDE - October 1984 - PART 1

As the sun began to set on 31st October in 1984, the Sikh citizens of India could not have forseen what was about to befall the streets of their capital city.

At 5.20pm the first recorded attack on a Sikh took place when President Zail Singh’s car was stoned, as he travelled to the AIIMS hospital where Indira Gandhi had been taken.....

Serving life since 1995 Bhai Shamsher Singh has known only Chandigarh’s Burail Jail as home, whilst yearning to return to his ancestral home in the village of Ukhsi Jattan near Rajpura, Panjab.
Convicted of making the bomb that ended the physical liquidation of an entire generation of Sikh men by obliterating the human form of the demon Beanta the ‘Butcher of Panjab’, he has sacrificed his entire youth and future for the Sikh nation.

Sikhs celebrate Freedom of Information win amidst genuine fear of losing Freedom.

The bail application of Arvindar Singh appeared straight forward, he has been accused of alledgedly writing in favour of self determination for Sikhs via social media, not unlike those people in Scotland who have and are actively campaigning for independence from the UK.
The frightening interpretation of the law used to justify the detention of a young man for stating his opinion on social media is that his actions amount to "preparing to wage war against the Union States of India".
Does this seem utterly preposterous?

5 Centres, 200 women who have successfully completed a 6 month intensive seamstress, 'learn to earn' course where they have gained confidence and competence.
Sikh Relief provided financial support and offered a course which was designed to strengthen the economic status of the Sikligar Sikh Community.
The success of this project has demonstrated a clear pathway to encourage many other women from neighbouring villages to also take part and become key integral members of their communities.

The notorious Panjab Police are famous for using the laws and perilously slow judicial system of democratic India as a device to lock up innocent Sikhs, and the cases of Arvinder Singh alias Mittha Singh, Surjit Singh and Ranjit Singh are no different.

They have have been kept in custody awaiting trial under the IPC 121 / 121A and 10/13 of Nabha surcharge in the jail for two years.

Mental health ~ the silent killer.

Father of three Bhai Vikram Singh has been living life by the command of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji, meditating the Naam, earning an honest living and sharing his life with those around him.

As beautiful as this seems the world has not been kind to the embroidery tailor from Delhi.

As hard and honestly as he worked he found himself unemployed and struggling to feed his family or even provide them with a home and essentials.

Sikh Relief raises Royal Sikh Dastar high in Mumbai out of the reach of those who would desecrate it's Majesty.

Awakening the Sikhi Spirit in the 'City of Dreams'

Our team were busy preparing for our Sikh Heritage and Dastaar tying Camp in the capital of Maharashatra state, in Mumbai known as the 'City of Dreams. This is quite a leap from our routine camps which are run by Amandeep Singh Bajakhana all over Panjab. Travelling to the other end of India, to a city which eats, drinks and sleeps Bollywood; Amandeep Singh and his team inspired and reconnected the young and old, male and female, Sikh and non-Sikh, with the teachings and life stories of the Guru’s aswell as the practical - like tying a dastaar.

A very bitter victory - Indian justice, an oxymoron?

When RanaPartap Singh walked free from Nabha Max earlier this week his joy and happiness were closely shadowed by a great sadness.
Although RanaPartap Singh had grown up with his sister and father after his mother suffered an illness and passed away during his childhood, the memories of his mother's expectations and aspirations spurred him to be an elegant, smart and conscientious individual, always helping his sister, father and anyone he could.
