Sikhs celebrate Freedom of Information win amidst genuine fear of losing Freedom.

The bail application of Arvindar Singh appeared straight forward, he has been accused of alledgedly writing in favour of self determination for Sikhs via social media, not unlike those people in Scotland who have and are actively campaigning for independence from the UK.
The frightening interpretation of the law used to justify the detention of a young man for stating his opinion on social media is that his actions amount to "preparing to wage war against the Union States of India".
Does this seem utterly preposterous?

Sikh Relief case manager, Bhai Parminder Singh , who was present in the Punjab and Haryana High Court explained that the court has termed this "a case of war against the country and in such cases there is a provision ranging from seven years to life imprisonment...So, the bail application is dismissed and the court order has to be pronounced in three months."
Arvinder Singh’s legal representative Snr Adv Rajvinder Singh Bains has conveyed a heightened sense of concern that this case has been ordered to be completed quickly, within three months and fears it could be a test case, "which could set a very dangerous precedent in Indian law, effectively curtailing the freedom of speech for any citizen to voice an opinion on their desire for self determination for fear of incarceration, even misused by the Panjab Police for mass arrests."
These fears are not irrational but carefully considered and exacerbated by the fact that this unassuming looking case which appears very insignificant has been fought by a battery of TEN Snr lawyers. Yes 10.
Not even the case of Singh Sahib Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Ji Hawara had TEN government Adv's working on it.
It is an irrefutable fact that the mainstream media has a narrow scope for discussion and discourse in India and it is the social media networks that ensure plurality of information and news that tends to contradict the "official narratives" of opinion forming events.
This case appears to set the course for Indian authorities to use the precedent to justify mass incarceration of those merely engaging in discussion regardless of topic, a right that is enshrined in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Article 19 in its entirety reads:
"Article 19.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
The Indian Constitution has its own Article 19, it reads:
"Article 19(1)(a) of Indian Constitution says that all citizens have the right to freedom of speech and expression. Freedom of Speech and expression means the right to express one's own convictions and opinions freely by words of mouth, writing, printing, pictures or any other mode."
Yet the Punjab and Haryana High Court has refused to grant bail to Arvinder Singh accused of waging/planning to wage war against the Union States of India, not merely expressing an opinion.
Are these the actions by which democracy and liberty are upheld in India?
Sikh Relief fully intends to find out.
Sikh Relief have instructed Snr Adv Rajvinder Singh Bains to take this case to the very highest level of India's justice system, let us see the Supreme Court of India reaffirm or disregard the country's own constitution, acceptance of International Law and the will of the United Nations.
