Bhupinder Singh alias Dilawar Singh was wrongfully arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) the draconian relative of India's disgraceful and widely condemned TADA laws.

Sikh Relief UK has been helping the family to prepare a legal defence, remain strong and in Chardikla since he was returned to India in January 2019.

Bhupinder Singh had been living in Abu Dhabi since early 2018 and was arrested after Mohali police upon arrival back in India after the govt had issue an interpol red corner notice to detain Bhupinder pending a formal extradition request.

There is no requirement for any government to arrest, detain or accept a rad notice in law, it is left to the discretion of each government to decide on the basis of what they consider legitimate. These decisions can and are often decided by national interest more times than evidence of criminality, which is clearly the case here.

Bhupinder Singh was kept incarcerated for eight months before his extradition to India in January 2019.
