Further to the prison release of Bhai Kulbir Singh Heera from Ludhiana Jail our volunteers met with him and discussed looking ahead at what his hopes were now he was back home with his family.
It is common practice in Panjab when police arrest Sikhs they seize as much of the prisoners possessions as possible, including any savings, work equipment, furniture even removing doors and piping, anything of value that will make life for the prisoners families as difficult as possible.

Prior to his arrest Bhai Kulbir Singh had set up business as a land/property consultant and was fast establishing himself but the financial loss incurred as a result of his arrest and imprisonment in the false police case that was registered against him meant he not only lost what he had worked for but also what he had had to begin with.

At SOPW our primary goal is to provide good lawyers that will fight the cases of often totally innocent Sikhs or Sikh Political Prisoners, secure their releases and reunite them with their families, during this process we support the prisoners and their families as much as possible with welfare support etc but once the prisoners are released we hope to make them self-sufficient so they can themselves support their families and live a life of dignity and pride as they wish and so deserve.

Bhai Kulbir Singh explained to our volunteers that he would like to re-establish himself as a property consultant but for this he required a mode of transport as this work involves a lot of travelling around so to assist him in this our volunteers were pleased to purchase a new motorbike for him.
We would like to emphasise that without your support none of this would have been possible, Bhai Kulbir Singh would still be in prison and the family still helpless whereas now this family is working hard and looking forward to building a bright future together.

We thank the Sangat for your support and wish Bhai Kulbir Singh Heera and his family all the best.
