Hope amidst the despair of farmers…
With the dark spectre of farmer suicides already looming large in Panjab it was feared that the flooding of the state by the Bhakra Beas Management Board would precipitate a despair and despondency so great that farmers would be pushed beyond their patience.
But with the grace and blessing of the Guru such a tragedy has not come to pass and Sikh Relief is humbled by the support we have received in order to help these people reverse the effects of the flooding upon the land and soil.
Having spent weeks turning the soil on hundreds of acres of affected land we have been sowing the crops for the next harvest for several days now and the positivity among those who have been despairing is all the more rewarding.
A fleet of commandeered tractors and volunteers have been sowing the fields across the district of Karputhla supplying seeds and fertiliser as Seva for those small holding farmers who would face complete ruin without this opportunity to survive.
Our teams have worked tirelessly to alleviate as much of the effects of the flooding as possible and require your continued prayers and dasvandh to help support today for a better tomorrow.
