“SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT” AWARENESS DAY HELD IN MOHALI BY SIKH RELIEF AND ‘SARBAT DA BHALLA’ SEVA SOCIETY
In today’s modern world, environmental pollution and other threats to the way of nature, are the cause of great concern. To ensure our survival on this planet we need access to clean water, air and earth. The rising pollutants in all three pose a threat to all of our futures.
Where Sikhi teaches us to remember God in all we do, earn an honest living and share what we have with others, the Guru’s also instilled in us a responsibility to be the caretakers of natures treasures: earth, water and air. Guru Nanak composed the morning prayer of Japji Sahib and said; “WIND IS THE TEACHER, WATER IS THE FATHER AND EARTH IS THE GREAT MOTHER. DAY AND NIGHT ARE THE TWO KIND NURTURERS AND THE WORLD PLAYS UNDER THEM”.
As well as our core projects, Sikh Relief continues to organise initiatives to improve the lives of all. We were honoured to join other organisations including the ‘Sarbat da Bhalla Seva Society’ to hold an ‘Environment Awareness Day’ in Mohali. The day proved to be a great success, in educating the youth in particular, and in creating projects to help reduce pollution. Competitions for all age groups were also held, including; Gurbani recitation, Turban tying and presentations. RP Singh and Parminder Singh were present on behalf of Sikh Relief.
